We offer high-quality chess coaching designed to integrate seamlessly into school routines and organisational settings.
What makes our chess programmes stand out?
Our programmes are delivered on school premises during term time, fostering a calm, supportive environment with a strong focus on wellbeing. We offer flexible two-session per week schedules, with each 60-minute session providing continuity and skill progression through a set curriculum. Designed for ages 7-16 (Years 3-11), our inclusive programmes cater to all abilities, from beginners to experienced players. Each week focuses on positive behaviour, concentration, confidence, and resilience, alongside learning diverse chess strategies and playing styles. Our flexible options ensure smooth integration into existing timetables, whether for PPA cover or as part of a wider curriculum.
Who we coach
Our in-school programmes specifically target children aged 7-16 years. While this is our primary audience, we tailor our programmes to other organisations, adapting age ranges as needed. For group sessions, we limit after-school clubs to a maximum of 16 children and in-school lessons to 30 children, ensuring a teaching assistant supports larger groups for optimal learning.
The learning journey: what to expect
Mindful Moves Chess Academy offers non-screen-based enrichment that supports calm focus, mindfulness, and emotional resilience, addressing the increasing focus on pupils’ mental wellbeing. For schools dedicated to improving life chances and raising aspirations, chess supports the development of transferable skills crucial for long-term success. Pupils learn strategic thinking, resilience after setbacks, delayed gratification, and confident decision-making—all traits linked to improved academic outcomes and greater life prospects. Through mastering a complex game, children build confidence, develop problem-solving skills, strengthen patience, and improve concentration, memory, and decision-making.
Programme Fees & Partnerships
Our Chess & Wellbeing Programme is designed as a long-term partnership. For schools, programmes are typically delivered and invoiced on a termly basis to align with the academic calendar. For clubs, community organisations, and other educational settings, we offer flexible programme agreements with options for termly payments or annual packages. Pricing is tailored to the number of sessions, participant numbers, and the specific requirements of each organisation, ensuring every programme meets individual needs.
